Tree Hut

We have been learning how to use adjectives to describe a mood and atmosphere. Here is a picture of our tree house that my group made and the adjectives to describe the mood.

Can you guess the mood and atmosphere?

Maths problem

 Kia ora

We have been learning about how to use Compatible Numbers. Compatible Numbers are any two numbers which add together to make a Tidy Number
(a  number which ends in zero).  We had to choose two Compatible Numbers and another number. Then we had to think of a word problem which used our numbers and give the problem to a buddy to solve. Mrs Ogle, our maths facilitator, said this is called 'posing problems'.

My 'posing problem' is: Jimin had 6 BTS concert tickets, and Oli bought 4 more and then RM brought 1 more. How many concert tickets all together?

6+4+1=11

Helping our Juniors

 Hello fellow blogers

I just came back to Ohaeawai School and started to help Maunga Iti and  Team Maunga just for Friday and now I know how a teacher feels. For Friday I spelling tested Maunga Iti and I got really confused about what they were saying to me so I got some help from Hayley and she could understand what they were saying. Then I went to Team Maunga to help with their Fathers' Day cards.

Maths: Geometry Safari

This term for maths we have been learning about 2D and 3D geometry.  Elise, Max and I were in a team. We went on a Geometry Safari around the school grounds to see how many 2D  and 3D shapes we could find. Then we had to write what we had found into a table. You can see ours below

Science: Me and my DNA.

This term for science we are learning all about how the human body works and how special we all are. We are also trying to learn how to think and act more like a scientist. So, Miss Fletcher asked us to look at our faces in the mirror and write down notes about what we look like. The information had to be precise and clear so that when someone read it, it would help them find the person it described quickly. It was a bit like being a detective. You had to look and notice things carefully.

Miss Fletcher said that what we look like depends on our mother and father. Making a new human is a bit like making a cake.  You get some ingredients from your mum and some from your dad. The ingredients are called DNA. Everybody’s cake is different to everyone else’s.

Miss Fletcher said the person with the most efficient description was Andrew J as he wrote: My hair is 1cm long all over. He is the only student in Team Moana with a haircut like that so he was able to be identified very easily. You can read my description below. The sentences highlighted in blue are the ones that Miss Fletcher said were not precise and clear enough.  Thirty people said they could recognise me from my description.

Whitebait fritters reading activity

This term we have been reading a book called Whitebait Fritters. The task I did was an animation with Piata, Sydney-Rose and I enjoyed creating the drama into the animation. I found it hard when most of us disagreed on what each of us wanted on our slide so we did all of what each of us wanted. The learning behind the task was about our zone wall and whitebait . Here is my work.

Whitebait fritter Term 1

Hi my name is Cruz and I am in Team Moana, this week we have been learning about whitebait fritters. I have done a front page that the author might like. It was really hard to draw the the family but I enjoyed the characters look and I like the background. Here is what I have done.
